Schwetzingen Palace
The Schwetzingen Palace was the summer residence of the Prince Electors of the Palatinate,
who first had their main Palace in Heidelberg and later in Mannheim. Carl Theodor (1724-1799) was
the Prince Elector who gave splendor to the Schwetzingen Palace, developed a magnificent baroque
garden and built a wonderful rococo theater. Important personalities were once guests of Carl
Theodor at the summer residence, like Voltaire and also Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who gave concerts
here.
