I was born in Asunción, Paraguay, on an early sunday morning of May 19, 1963.

My parents, Dr. Herman Derliz Mereles García and Dr. Edelmira Tottil Torales, are two exceptional medical doctors that worked hard in the northern part of the country, in the city of Concepción, for almost all of their professional life.

I am also a medical doctor and, like my parents but in my very personal way, I went since 1993 a bit further north. I am living in Heidelberg and I am working at the department of cardiology of this oldest German University.

I am envolved in clinical research projects with emphasis in echo- cardiography and stress echocardio- graphy. Our main actual issue is the familial pulmonary arterial hypertension, it's early diagnosis and genetic charac- terization.

Medicine and research are not the only important parts of my life, I also enjoy music, literature and photography very much. You will find examples of all of this at this site.
