Ludwigsburg Palace
The Ludwigsburg Palace, also known as the Swabian Versailles, is one of Europe's largest
baroque residences. It was built by order of Duke Eberhard Ludwig von Württemberg
(ruled between 1693 and 1733). The Palace was at times one of the most magnificent courts in
Europe. Today it is the focus of interest of hundreds of thousands of visitors.

The Residence Palace: New Corps de Logis (Main Building)
The large garden complex of Ludwigsburg comprise three palaces: the Residence, the actual
main palace, the Favorite Palace, a hunting palace, and the Monrepos Palace, a small pleasure
palace. Ludwigsburg is located 15 km north from Stuttgart.

The Ludwigsburg Palace is characterized by different consecutive stylistic periods.
Typical features of the baroque style, of the rococo period, of classicism and of
the empire style can be found.
