An der Wand unseres Arbeitplatzes hängen vier Masken, die wir vor Jahren aus Paraguay mitgebracht
haben. Ich habe sie "Die vier Reiter der Apokalypse" genannt. Hier neun Variationen von ihnen.
Die Masken, oder die Guaraní Indianer, haben nichts damit zu tun. Obwohl sie
früher vielleicht Realitäten über der materiellen Ebene hinaus wahrnehmen
konnten.
Sie wurden versklavt, unterdrückt, und sogar unwissend von Tuberkulosebazillen dezimiert,
die die Spanier aus Europa eingeschleppt hatten.
Fast ausgerottet von den Besserwissern, mit der Macht der konventionellen Waffen,
sowie einer der ältesten Biowaffen der Menschengeschichte.
Die letzten, wahren Reiter des Armaggedons sind für Arbeitslosigkeit, Armut, Hoffnungslosigkeit und
Krankheiten zuständig. Es gibt sogar offiziele Ämter die sie vertretten, z.B. die Weltbank und
der Internationale Währungsfond (IWF).
Es sind:
die Globalisierung,
die verlogene Weltpolitik,
die Umwelzerstörung und
der Krieg.

I saw pictures of tornados the other day in an online news journal. This reminded me, that I
also had once such an exiting encounter.
Andreas and I decided to go to San Francisco in May 1998, since the weather should always be very nice
in this month.
It rained almost the whole week, even so much as we were in the tropics. "El Niño" was
the reason for it.
I made these pictures of an undercritic tornado (blind tornado, no-touchdown tornado, funnel cloud)
from the International Airport of San Francisco.

After visiting Paraguay in August we finally found some time and prepared
this mosaic of pictures taken with a very small USB-stick camera. It was
winter at that time, that means being actually like spring here in Germany.
We experienced a big surprise in downtown Asunción as we sat outside
the famous Lido bar and enjoyed looking at people walking down the street. Suddenly the
atmosphere became bizarre. On the other side of the street, at the
Panteón, U.S. agents, paraguayan military and police officers appeared and controlled
the area. The presence of Akã karaja soldiers (historically all unter 18) put the final frame to a short
visit of Donald Rumsfeld. We felt like inside a thriller. What was the
real intention for his visit? There are a lot of speculations - time will tell.
I tiny comment for John Gimlette: we have never found any inflatable pigs in Paraguay. In fact, I lived there the
first 30 years of my life and we visit family and friends there every year. The truth is: I have never read such a horrible book about Paraguay, its people and its history.

Carta abierta a la Comisión Europea y a la opinión pública del Paraguay en relación al desvío de fondos de ayuda al desarrollo del tercer mundo:
Estimadas Señoras, estimados Señores,
no es que me moleste el hecho de que un español (1) haya desviado dos millones de euros de la Unión Europea, destinados al desarrollo del tercer mundo, a una dudosa cuenta en un pais centroamericano.
Este hombre no sabía obviamente de los controles financieros puntillosos de la Comisión Europea. Las investigaciones legales están en marcha. La justicia, aunque latinoamericana, se ha puesto en movimiento.
No es que me disguste el hecho de haber conocido personalmente a este hombre. Me molesta mucho sí, que mis amigos que también le conocen estén aún enceguecidos por los destellos de sus espejos transatlánticos.
Corrupción, incluso a gran estilo, existe también en la Europa actual, hasta en el seno mas íntimo de la Comisión Europea. Ellas esperan ser descubiertas. Las ollas cuecen y esperan ser destapadas.
Mis amigos creen que este hombre fué engañado.
Hace más de quinientos años llegaron españoles a esas tierras. Con espejitos engañaron a sus habitantes y se llevaron el oro. Hoy no son sólo dos millones de euros, sino más de cincuenta.
La ayuda financiera programada para el Paraguay hasta el año dosmilseis suma más de cincuenta millones de euros (2).
No es que todo esto me moleste un poco. Me indigna el hecho de que una única persona probablemente ponga en peligro toda esta ayuda financiera, con la que pudiera ser impulsado importantemente el desarrollo de los sectores necesitados de este pais.
Solicito de este modo la solución justa al problema, especialmente considerando las tremendas necesidades de un pais en desarrollo.
